Sun Fook Kong Group(“The Group”) is a long established and one of the leading building construction and civil engineering contractors in Hong Kong and is principally engaged in construction and maintenance works for buildings and civil engineering in Hong Kong, Macau and China. We believe our proven construction track record and our good reputation in the construction industry in Hong Kong position us well to expand our business in China.
HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT
We commenced our business in building construction in 1948. During the 1960s, we completed building construction projects, such as ATV Building, the public stand at Happy Valley Racecourse of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and Prince's Building, etc.
In 1971, SFK Construction was approved by the Hong Kong Government as a Group C contractor for the building works category which enabled us to expand our business from private construction works to public construction works.
In November 1987, Mr Lo's family, which was experienced in construction and property fields in Hong Kong, acquired SFK Construction from its founder. This acquisition gave us not only a combination of experience and reputation but also an injection of financial and management resources. All these inputs enabled us to meet relevant criteria adopted by the Hong Kong Government as a tenderer for larger public works contracts.
In 1989, with a view to further expanding our business to civil engineering works, we acquired SFK Civil, which was already a Group C contractor for the roads and drainage category, from Messrs. Ho Yat Kong, Ho Yung Sang and their family members, all of whom are Independent Third Parties.
Over the years, we have been involved in the construction of buildings including commercial complexes, hospitals, hotels, housing estates, industrial buildings, private residential buildings, public libraries, schools, university complexes and also civil engineering works including flyovers, footbridges, foundation, site formation, reclamation, port works, waterworks, slope works, roads and drainage works. We have a track record of successfully completed major projects in Hong Kong. We believe that our proven construction track record and our good reputation in the construction market in Hong Kong position us well to expand our business in China.
EXPANDING BUSINESS TO MACAU
With a view to diversifying our business beyond Hong Kong, we have stepped in the construction market in Macau since 2004 by means of our own subsidiaries or joint ventures formed with Kun Fai, including SFK Macau, SFK Kun Fai, Wo King and Rich Power for this purpose. Kun Fai is a domestic medium-sized construction company in Macau with nearly twenty years of construction experience in Macau. We are the leader of the joint ventures with Kun Fai and the knowledge of Kun Fai on domestic construction rules and regulations coupled with our experience in large and sophisticated construction projects have provided a good foundation for these companies to obtain satisfactory results in Macau during the Track Record Period by means of participating in the expo superstructure project of the Cotai Casino, Exhibition and Hotel Complex.
EXPANDING BUSINESS TO THE PRC
With a view to accomplishing our expansion to the PRC, we established Zhuhai SFK on 16 April 2007, which is a jointly foreign owned enterprise in the PRC having a registered and paid-up capital of HK$25,000,000 and owned as to 50% by SFK Engineering and 50% by Kun Fai. The scope of business of Zhuhai SFK is building construction and engineering contracting.
